Lake District walks - Stile End

Here is the view looking north towards Braithwaite and Skiddaw from the top of Stile End.

As you can see, Stile End is still suffering from the fire of April 2003 - and this picture was taken in October 2003. The russet colours are the bracken dying away.

This, in October 2005, shows the heather just starting to grow again.  The bracken on Barrow is beginning to turn colour again...


It just shows that you don't have to climb too far to get great views.  We are on Stile End, looking down across Barrow Door to the east.
