Here is the view as you cross the pastures between Braithwaite and the Derwent river flowing into Bassenthwaite Lake away on the left.
Here's what you see when you turn right towards Portinscale - the north-western fells in all their beauty! Or some of them at least...
Two unusual sights: some very bold lambs, a mixture of Herdwick (the black pair) and Swaledale (the one with a black face)
and some South American sheep, i.e., alpacas grazing just outside Braithwaite. They seem to love it, and who can blame them...
